We arrived at The Sarojin late at night, it was pitch black outside and we could not see much as we drove towards the resort. We turned off the main road and the driver told us that we had arrived at the estate of The Lady Sarojin. We could see nothing. As we got closer we could see the entrance to the resort, which was lit up by torches.
Words cannot describe the beauty of the resort and no pictures can capture it. Nothing could have prepared us for the splendour of the place. As we stepped through the entrance we were mesmerized. The resort and its gardens were lit up by thousands of candles and torches. You could hear the waves from the ocean and the frogs from the lotus ponds. It was overwhelming, truly romantic!
We were greeted by the staff with an amazing bouquet of red roses, champagne and cold towels. Our host Noot guided us through the garden to our residence. We were again amazed. The soft light of candles filled our room, and there were rose petals spread out across the room. The marble bath was filled with steaming water and champagne chilled in an ice bucket! Good start for a lovely honeymoon!
I was so excited that I was up at the crack of dawn… I had to see the resort in daylight! Breakfast in bed, forget it, I wanted to see the beach. As my husband was still asleep, I quietly slipped out. Funnily enough, as I stepped out the world turned black again, my sunnies got clogged from the humid air. I felt so stupid, but quickly slipped my sunnies into my pocket. I felt even more stupid when I realised that my hair had turned green! Green as an apple - nice!! Must have been the chlorine in the water. Anyway, I put my hair up in a ponytail and walked towards the beach, on windy walkways along the myriads of lotus ponds. As I came down to the beach, I was amazed yet again! The sand was pure white and the ocean turquoise. The palm trees stretched along the shore and waves were rolling in towards me. It was not the classic paradise beach; this beach was alive, wild and magic!
I ran
back to our residence, woke my husband up … time for breakfast! We had a champagne breakfast in the garden overlooking the pool, lotus ponds and fig trees. Eggs, smoked salmon, waffles, pancakes and fruit!
Spent a couple of hours at the beach, had lunch at our private Thai lounge sala, and than spent another couple of hours by the pool. In the afternoon we had a 90 minute herbal aroma massage. We ate dinner by the beach, seafood barbeque with lobster, fish and prawns! Gee what a lovely and relaxing day!
The Sarojin offers a great range of excursions, but being exhausted from months of wedding planning we decided to spend most of our time at the resort relaxing. We went for long walks on the beach, sunbathed by the pool and treated ourselves with spa treatments.
The Sarojin staff members were great, providing impeccable personal service. We were offered cold wet towels and a cold drink wherever we went. The chefs always came out to our table to ask if we enjoyed the meal. The room was cleaned twice daily etc.
I will highly recommend the Sarojin! The resort provides great privacy and you cannot compare it to the 5 story high resorts in Phuket. It is very romantic and very exclusive! It is a great treat!
