Where was your photo taken and what brought you to this destination?
Just outside the Imperial Palace Gardens, Tokyo. Japan was a stop-over on our way to Scandinavia.
What inspired you to take this photo?
The beauty of the guard house across the moat; the tree in the foreground; the glimpse of modern Tokyo in the background. Classic Imperial Japan and modern urban Japan in the one image.
Did you set it up or did it just happen??
The composition leapt out as we walked past.
What does this photo mean to you, why is it your favourite photo?
This was the first big trip my partner and I had been able to take for nearly ten years, due to medical issues. We looked forward to it for so long, and our brief stay in Japan brought home the fact that we'd finally managed it! It just felt so great to be overseas again - to experience such an incredible place.
